Q: Should I still see my family dentist?

A: Yes, whilst wearing braces continue to see your dentist as frequently as one normally does; and also an oral hygienist for professional cleaning. At these regular visits, the teeth are checked for cavities and the health of the gums is evaluated. The dentist is involved in an on-going process of evaluating your oral health which includes: oral cancer screening, evaluation of existing restorations, removal of plaque and calculus, polishing, oral hygiene instruction and if necessary a review of the diet. All these issues can play a significant role in oral health.
